Facturae: the Spanish e-invoice standard for government and business, mandatory via FACe and Crea y Crece.
Facturae is the national e-invoice format of Spain. It is used for both B2G invoicing (via the FACe portal) and B2B transactions under the Crea y Crece Act. Facturae is an XML format with its own schema that is separate from the European standard EN 16931, comparable to how FatturaPA functions in Italy.
A Facturae invoice is an XML file with a defined structure containing Spanish business and tax information. For invoicing to the Spanish government (B2G), Facturae is submitted via FACe (Punto General de Entrada de Facturas Electronicas), the central portal for e-invoices to government bodies.
For B2G use, an XAdES signature is mandatory: the invoice must be digitally signed with a qualified certificate. This guarantees the integrity and authenticity of the document.
Under the Crea y Crece Act (Act 18/2022), Facturae alongside UBL becomes one of the two permitted formats for mandatory B2B e-invoicing in Spain. PDF invoices will no longer be valid as a B2B invoice format once the mandate takes effect.
eConnect supports Facturae transformation for invoicing to Spanish parties. The PSB can automatically transform invoices in your existing format (UBL, NLCIUS, BIS Billing V3) to Facturae when the recipient expects this. Invoicing to Spanish government bodies via the Peppol network is also supported.
