Peppol International Invoice (PINT): the global Peppol standard for e-invoices with region-specific variants.
PINT (Peppol International Invoice) is the international invoice profile of Peppol, designed to standardise e-invoicing worldwide. While BIS Billing V3 is primarily aimed at Europe, PINT offers a framework that works for all regions where Peppol is active.
PINT, like BIS Billing V3, is based on the semantic model EN 16931 and uses UBL 2.1 as its syntax. The difference lies in the design: PINT was created as a modular framework with a core specification (PINT Global) and region-specific extensions.
Each region can define its own PINT variant that aligns with local legislation and regulations, without deviating from the core. This makes it possible to send invoices using the same base standard to receivers in Japan, Singapore, the UAE or Europe.
PINT EU (example):

Each regional variant has its own DocumentTypeId, composed of the PINT base identifier followed by the region code.
BIS Billing V3 and PINT exist side by side. The key difference:
In the long term, PINT EU will likely succeed BIS Billing V3 as the European standard profile. Until then, both profiles are supported on the Peppol network.
In some regions, PINT is coupled with a Tax Data Document (TDD). This is a separate tax reporting document that is sent alongside the invoice to the tax authority. The UAE and Slovakia are the first countries implementing TDD via the Peppol network. Oman follows the same model with TDD OM (PASR still under review).
OpenPeppol is preparing version 1.1.3, a maintenance release without breaking changes. The expected publication date is 8 June 2026. The changes mainly concern documentation corrections and Schematron maintenance:
For eConnect customers nothing changes: the PSB will support the new version as soon as it is published.
The eConnect PSB fully supports all PINT variants. This means that you can send invoices to and receive invoices from receivers in all PINT regions via eConnect. The PSB automatically transforms between BIS Billing V3 and PINT where needed.
