Svefaktura: the Swedish e-invoice standard, a CIUS of EN 16931 used alongside Peppol BIS 3.0.
Svefaktura is the Swedish CIUS (Core Invoice Usage Specification) of the European standard EN 16931. It is the national standard for e-invoicing in Sweden and is used alongside Peppol BIS Billing V3 for both B2G and B2B transactions.
Svefaktura adds Swedish business rules on top of the European standard EN 16931, similar to how NLCIUS does for the Netherlands and XRechnung for Germany. An invoice that complies with Svefaktura automatically complies with EN 16931 and is interoperable with Peppol BIS Billing V3.
Sweden has a long tradition in structured e-invoicing. Adoption in the business community is high, partly thanks to incentives from the government and major software vendors. In practice, Svefaktura and Peppol BIS 3.0 are used interchangeably, as the technical differences are minimal.
eConnect supports Svefaktura via the Peppol network. Invoices to Swedish receivers are automatically routed and the PSB adjusts the format based on the receiver's expectations. Because Svefaktura and BIS Billing V3 are technically nearly identical, the exchange is seamless.
