Frequently asked questions
Why do organisations choose eConnect?

eConnect combines the expertise of more than ten years of e-invoicing with the agility of an organisation that develops its own technology. This is a rare combination in the market. Many providers depend on third-party technology, which limits what they can offer and how quickly they can respond to changes.

eConnect develops its architecture and intellectual property entirely in-house, from Woerden. This makes it possible to respond quickly to new regulations, industry standards and customer needs. The three design principles, Simple, Standard and Solid, translate into a platform that is easy to use, based on open standards, and proven reliable. With more than 20.000 connected organisations and 12 million invoices per year, scale is proven. At the same time, the organisation with 35 employees is compact enough to provide personal attention. You are not a number, you are a customer we know.

What makes eConnect different from other e-invoicing providers?

There are three things that distinguish eConnect from other providers. Firstly, eConnect is co-founder of the Dutch Peppol Authority and board member of OpenPeppol. This means we do not just use the standard, but actively co-develop it. As an eConnect customer, you therefore always stay ahead of new developments.

Secondly, eConnect holds an unusually broad set of certifications: ISO 27001, NEN 7510, ISAE 3402 Type II, Peppol Certified, OASIS SMP-compliant and DICO-certified. This combination makes eConnect suitable for the most demanding sectors. Thirdly, eConnect develops all technology in-house. The Intelligent Document Recogniser (IDR) for Scan & Recognise, the SMP, the Procurement Service Bus, the invoice portal: it is all proprietary development. This gives control over quality, speed and product direction. The double FD Gazellen recognition (2024 and 2025) confirms that this approach works.

How is eConnect involved in the future of e-invoicing?

eConnect is not just a service provider, but also an active player in the development of e-invoicing standards. As a board member of OpenPeppol, eConnect contributes to the international direction of the Peppol network. As co-founder of the Dutch Peppol Authority (NPa), eConnect has a voice in national policy.

In 2021, eConnect was a member of the working group for the e-return initiative, commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior, which led to the current standard for status messages. This involvement translates directly into the product: eConnect was one of the first providers with status messages via Peppol (2015), with a proprietary OASIS SMP-compliant solution, and with ViDA-readiness. When new European regulations are introduced, or when countries like Belgium, Germany and France introduce new requirements, eConnect is prepared and customers are automatically covered. That is the value of a provider that does not just follow, but also shapes.

How large is eConnect as an organisation?

eConnect has 35 employees at its headquarters in Woerden, supplemented with dedicated development teams for specific product lines. With over 20.000 connected organisations and more than 12 million processed invoices per year, eConnect is one of the largest e-invoicing service providers in the Netherlands. Approximately 30% of all Dutch organisations on the Peppol network are registered via eConnect, and around 40% of all Dutch Peppol transactions run through the platform.

Despite this scale, the organisation has remained compact and agile. The double FD Gazellen recognition (2024 and 2025) confirms that eConnect is among the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands. In 2022, eConnect was awarded Hybrid Employer of the Year in the Utrecht region. This combination of growth, stability and a pleasant work environment translates directly into the service: short lines of communication, fast decisions and personal contact.

In which sectors is eConnect active?

eConnect serves organisations in virtually all sectors: government, healthcare, construction, energy, transport, retail, accountancy and corporate. Customers range from freelancers and SMEs to large enterprises and multinationals. References such as the Chamber of Commerce, KPN, Province of North Brabant, Peinemann and Utrecht University illustrate this breadth. In the construction sector, eConnect is DICO-certified, fully supporting the specific sector standards.

A large part of the market is reached by eConnect through partnerships with software vendors. Partners such as 4PS, VanMeijel, Unit4, AllSolutions and DataRotonde integrate eConnect technology into their own platforms, giving their customers seamless access to e-invoicing via Peppol. In addition to the primary market in the Netherlands, eConnect is also active in Belgium and Germany, with committed partnerships in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
