ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) makes e-invoicing and near real-time CTC reporting mandatory across Europe. What certifications does eConnect have as Access Point provider?

eConnect holds a broad set of certifications that is unusual in the Dutch Peppol market. We are certified for ISO 27001, the international standard for information security that is mandatory for Peppol Service Providers in the Netherlands. Additionally, we hold NEN 7510, the supplementary standard for information security in healthcare, and ISAE 3402 Type II, an independent assurance report on internal control measures.

This combination is relevant for organisations in sectors with strict requirements for their suppliers. Healthcare institutions, government bodies and financial institutions regularly ask for these certifications before entering into a partnership. What does ViDA mean for me and how does eConnect handle it?

ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) is the European package of measures that gradually makes e-invoicing and near real-time reporting to the tax authorities mandatory for B2B transactions. Germany started with the receiving obligation in January 2025, Belgium followed in January 2026, and France, Italy, Poland and Romania each have their own timeline. For multinational organisations this means that, alongside the invoice itself, technical reporting messages have to be exchanged per country.

eConnect is prepared for those reporting messages: the Procurement Service Bus (PSB) automatically generates the right status messages, CTC reports, evidence files and Invoice Message Responses for every country where you operate. The difference with other providers is in the pricing model. With most competitors every technical follow-up message counts as a separate transaction, which means a single invoice costs three to four times the transaction price. With eConnect all CTC overhead is included in the document price. You pay once per document, regardless of how many messages are exchanged in the background. For organisations with large international volumes that is a direct and demonstrable cost advantage.

What happens if my Access Point provider goes down?

With most Peppol providers, invoice traffic runs via one or two Access Points. If that Access Point is unreachable (due to maintenance, an outage or a cyber attack), invoices do not arrive. This is a real risk, especially around quarter-end closings when invoice volume increases significantly.

eConnect has deliberately eliminated this risk by operating a minimum of five Access Points simultaneously. Volume is automatically distributed across multiple points. Should one Access Point become unreachable, another takes over seamlessly. Your suppliers and customers notice nothing. This redundancy is complemented by active monitoring that detects disruptions before they have impact.

The infrastructure runs on Microsoft Azure and is designed to handle peak loads: processing capacity is 200.000 messages per hour. With a proven uptime of 99,99% and more than 12 million processed documents per year, scalability is not just a promise but a daily reality. This reliability is one of the reasons eConnect is also the supplier of the Dutch Government Access Point on Peppol.
