Connecting Timewriter with eConnect

Connect Timewriter via the legacy SOAP API (v3.1) with connection keys for sending outgoing invoices via Peppol.

Timewriter integrates in 2026 with eConnect via the legacy SOAP API (version 3.1). The integration uses connection keys for authentication. After configuration, outgoing invoices are sent via eConnect over Peppol. There is no inbound route via this integration: receiving does not work through the Timewriter connector.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following:

  • An eConnect account
  • At least a Basic+ subscription
  • Access to the Timewriter settings where you can enter the connection keys
  • Your OrganisationID (the XCNL, XCBE or XC number of your organisation in eConnect)
Setting up the integration
Step 1: Account and subscription
  1. Create an eConnect account if you don't have one yet.
  2. Ensure your organisation has at least a Basic+ subscription.
Step 2: Connection keys for the Timewriter connector
  1. Log in to platform.econnect.eu.
  2. Go to Connections and create connection keys for the Timewriter connector.

Where needed, follow the general steps in Creating connection keys.

Step 3: Enter keys in Timewriter
  1. Open Timewriter and go to the configuration for the eConnect integration (SOAP 3.1).
  2. Enter the generated connection keys in the designated fields.
  3. Enter your OrganisationID (required): the XCNL, XCBE or XC number as it applies to your organisation in eConnect.
  4. Save the settings and test with a trial invoice if possible.
Sending and follow-up
Reference after sending

On a successful submission, the integration returns an ExternalId (the XCNIN number of the document). Save this as an internal reference to look up documents later.

Tracking status

You can track the status of outgoing documents in two ways:

  • In the eConnect platform (including via the outbox and document overviews)
  • Via the SOAP method GetOutboxDocumentStatus on the legacy API (status only, without the full document)

See SOAP API: sending invoices for context on sending and status tracking via the SOAP API.
